The project, “Pilot Testing of the Draft Human Security Index in Eight Municipalities in the Philippines” is under the United Nations Development Programme-Conflict Prevention and Peace-Building Programme (UNDP-CPPB) and was undertaken by the UP Third World Studies Center (TWSC) under the direction of the TWSC Director, Dr. Maria Ela Atienza, and the supervision of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process. In this project, a draft human security index, which was also developed by the TWSC team, was tested in chosen municipalities across the country. Prof. Clarinda Lusterio-Berja of the Department of Political Science, UP Diliman, served as the assistant project leader. This project presentation was held in the Conference Room of the Third World Studies Center last November 8, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Dr. Ma. Mercedes Planta, the TWSC Deputy Director, was the event’s moderator. Mr. Ferdie Balmaceda, the Program Manager of the Government of the Philippines-United Nations Development Program under the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, gave the opening remarks.
