Ang public forum na pinamagatang, “Matotokhang ba ang 1987 Constitution?” ay una sa Sa Bungad ng Diktadura? 2018 Third World Studies Center Public Forum Series. Ginanap ang forum na ito noong ika-23 ng Pebrero 2018 sa Benitez Theater, College of Education, UP Diliman. Tampok na mga tagapagsalita ang mga miyembro ng 1986 Constitutional Commission na sina Ponciano Bennagen, Florangel Rosario Braid, Edmundo G. Garcia, at Wilfrido Villacorta. Si Propesor Randy David naman ang naging tagapagpadaloy ng programa.

Ito ang ikalawang forum ng 2016 UP TWSC Public Forum Series na pinamagatang, “Anim na Tanong sa Anim na Taon: Ang mga Agham Panlipunan at Pilosopiya at ang Papalitang Rehimeng Aquino.” Tampok sila Dr. Aries A. Arugay ng Departamento ng Agham Pampulitika at Dr. Francisco J. Lara Jr. ng Departamento ng Sosyolohiya bilang mga tagapagsalita sa forum na ito. Si Dr. Arugay ay tatalakay sa mga inisyatiba–o ang kawalan nito–na baguhin ang mga institusyong pulitikal para mapaunlad ang mas malawakang partisipasyong pulitikal sa kanyang, “Institutions Matter! Ang forum na ito ay bahagi ng 2013 UP TWSC Public Forum Series na pinamagatang, “Marcos Pa Rin! The public forum “‘Pag Meron Ka Nito, Wala Kang Talo! Ang mga Abugado, ang Hudikatura, at ang Arkitekturang Legal ng Awtoritaryanismong Marcos” was held last 15 January 2014 (Wednesday), from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Claro M. Recto Hall, Bulwagang Rizal (Faculty Center), College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines-Diliman. This forum is part of the 2013 UP TWSC Public Forum Series entitled, “Marcos Pa Rin! Ang mga Pamana at Sumpa ng Rehimeng Marcos.” The public forum featured speakers Froilan M. Bacungan, former Dean of the University of the Philippines College of Law, Raul C. Pangalangan, Philippine Daily Inquirer publisher and professor and former Dean of the University of the Philippines College of Law, and Marites Dañguilan-Vitug, Rappler Editor-at-Large. The public forum dealt with the role of the legal system and the institutions of law under the Marcos regime. It tackled in particular how the law came to legitimize and uphold Marcos’ declaration of martial law and the efforts made by lawyers’ groups to resist the dictatorship.

“May Tubo ba ang Pagtulong ng UP?: What Counts as Public Service in the National University” is part of the 2012 UP TWSC Public Forum Series, “Ang Tama ba sa UP, Tama rin sa Bayan?” This forum was held last 5 September 2012 from 9:00 AM – 12 NN at the Pulungang Claro M. Recto (Faculty Center Conference Hall), Rizal Hall, College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines-Diliman. This forum contested the rhetoric of public service as it is now interpreted and embodied in the current UP administration’s programs. It featured as speakers former UP President Francisco Nemenzo, UP Vice President for Public Affairs J. Prospero E. De Vera III, University Professor Emeritus of the Marine Science Institute Edgardo E. Gomez, and retired Professor of Management from UP Mindanao Dr. Niceto S. Poblador.

This public forum is fourth in the 2012 TWSC Public Forum Series, “Ang Tama ba sa UP, Tama rin sa Bayan?” Held last 28 November 2012 at the Pulungang Claro M. Recto (Faculty Center Conference Hall), Rizal Hall, College of Arts and Letters, UP Diliman, this forum tackles UP’s attitude towards its LGBT community from the perspectives of the different sectors within the university. Featured as speakers were University Student Council Chairperson Heart F. Diño, Ms. Prescilla Tulipat of the Diliman Gender Office, and Prof. Eric J. Manalastas of the Department of Psychology.

“Gwardya, Kamera, Aksyon?: Surveillance and Security in the University” is the second forum of the 2012 TWSC Public Forum Series, “Ang Tama ba sa UP, Tama rin sa Bayan?” It was held last 26 September 2012 from 9 AM to 12 NN at the Pulungang Claro M. Recto (Faculty Center Conference Hall), Rizal Hall, College of Arts and Letter, University of the Philippines-Diliman. Featured as speakers were Prof. Melania Abad-Flores, UP Diliman Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, Prof. Edgardo E. Dagdag, UP Diliman Chief Security Officer, and Prof. Agerico M. De Villa. This forum tackled debates regarding the desirable balance between ensuring security within UP and respecting its constituencies’ right to privacy.

“Nagagampanan ba ng KAPP ang Pagpapasidhi ng Nasyonalismong Pilipino sa UP?” is the fifth forum of the 2012 TWSC Public Forum Series, “Ang Tama ba sa UP, Tama rin sa Bayan?” This forum was held last 23 January 2013 at the Audio-Visual Room (PH 207), Palma Hall, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), University of the Philippines-Diliman. Held in celebration of CSSP’s 30th anniversary, this forum dealt with CSSP’s contribution to the academic study of Filipino national identity and the establishment of nationalist education in UP. Featured speakers were Dr. Ricardo Ma. D. Nolasco, Dr. Elizabeth Protacio-De Castro, Dr. Rogelia Pe-Pua, and Dr. Neil Martial R. Santillan.

This is the first forum of the 2011 UP Third World Studies Center (TWSC) Public Forum Series “The B.S. Aquino Administration – Possible Perversities, Perverted Possibilities” organized by the TWSC and co-sponsored by the University of the Philippines Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs and the Philippine Political Science Association. This forum, which was held last June 22, 2011 at the Claro M. Recto Hall, Bulwagang Rizal, UP Diliman, featured Prof. Raul C. Pangalangan of the UP College of Law and Prof. Lydia N. Yu Jose of the Ateneo de Manila University Department of Political Science. The forum tackled issues in state-church relations in the current Aquino administration.

Aquino Administration: Possible Perversities, Perverted Possibilities.” This forum, which was held last September 29, 2011 at the Claro M. Recto Hall, Bulwagang Rizal, UP Diliman, featured Dr. Alex B. Brillantes Jr. of the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance and Prof. Dante B. Gatmaytan of the UP College of Law. This forum examined the possible ramifications of the current Aquino administration’s apparent lack of attention to issues concerning local governance policies.

This forum, which was held last July 26, 2011 at the Claro M. Recto Hall, Bulwagang Rizal, UP Diliman, featured Retired Army Brig. Gen. Danilo D. Lim of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Dr. Ricardo Trota Jose of the UP Department of History and Ms. Criselda Yabes, freelance journalist and writer. The forum tackled issues in civilian-military relations in the current Aquino administration.

Aquino Administration: Possible Perversities, Perverted Possibilities.” This forum, which was held last August 23, 2011 at the Claro M. Recto Hall, Bulwagang Rizal, UP Diliman, featured Dr. Carol P. Araullo of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, Mr. Gary B. Olivar of the Center for Strategy, Enterprise and Intelligence, and Ms. Ellen Tordesillas, columnist for Malaya and Abante. The forum assessed how the Aquino administration’s promotion of its good governance rhetoric affects, in the long run, public perception of and expectations from his government.
